Importing Pizza Ovens and Pizzeria Equipment from China

Pizza is one of the fastest-spreading restaurant concepts in Saudi Arabia: Neapolitan pizzerias with dome ovens, fast-casual chains running conveyor ovens, food trucks serving wood-fired pizza through the event seasons, and cafes adding pizza to raise average ticket size. The heart of every one of these projects is the oven: it is the most expensive machine in the kitchen and the one with the greatest impact on final product quality. The difference between a good oven and a poor one shows in every pizza that comes out of it. Importing pizza ovens from China saves serious money versus Italian equipment, but only for those who understand the temperature, stone, and electrical specifications that allow no compromise.

Why China for This Category

Chinese factories have matured across every oven type in recent years: single- and double-deck electric, gas ovens, Italian-style dome ovens fired by wood or gas, conveyor ovens for chains, and even compact ovens for food trucks. The price gap is large: a good Chinese electric oven costs roughly a third of its Italian counterpart, which transforms the feasibility numbers of a pizza project while delivering quality entirely sufficient for most commercial concepts.

Where It Is Made

  • Guangzhou: China's largest restaurant equipment cluster: electric and gas pizza ovens and conveyor ovens, with showrooms where you can fire the oven before buying.
  • Foshan: metal fabrication, dome ovens, and higher-grade finishes.
  • Zhejiang and Shanghai: digital control components and higher-technology ovens.

The Critical Quality Specifications

  • Maximum temperature: Neapolitan pizza needs roughly 450-500 degrees Celsius; many cheap ovens claim 350 and cannot hold it. Demand a documented live firing test with thermal measurement.
  • The deck stone: refractory stone material and thickness define the pizza base; specify proper stone thickness and order spare stones with the shipment.
  • Insulation: poor insulation means a scorching kitchen, high power bills, and unstable heat.
  • Electrics: powerful electric ovens usually need 380V three-phase at 60Hz. Confirm your client's site voltage before ordering, along with cable sizing and breakers.
  • Gas: burners tuned to local gas type and pressure, with a flame-failure safety valve.
  • Conveyor ovens: consistent belt speed, independent top and bottom heat control, and a belt that removes easily for cleaning.

Certification and Requirements in Saudi Arabia

  • SASO and SABER: electric ovens are under mandatory conformity with a Product Certificate and Shipment Certificate before loading.
  • Civil Defense: gas and wood-fired ovens and extraction systems fall under facility safety and licensing requirements; hand your client the complete technical file.
  • Health requirements: food-contact surfaces in food-grade stainless, with the establishment subject to municipality and SFDA rules.
  • Customs duty is approximately 5% depending on HS code, plus 15% VAT.

Pricing, MOQs, and Shipping

  • Single-deck electric pizza oven: approximately USD 320-950 factory cost.
  • Double-deck electric for serious commercial use: approximately USD 650-1,900.
  • Italian-style gas or wood dome oven: approximately USD 2,100-8,000 depending on size and finish.
  • Conveyor oven for chains: approximately USD 2,100-8,000 depending on belt width.
  • MOQ: sold by the unit for projects; the smart play is one consolidated container: oven plus mixer, dough sheeter, refrigerated prep tables, and pizza tools.
  • Shipping: sea freight, roughly 18-30 days to Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam; dome ovens need serious wooden crating with dedicated protection for stone and dome.

Common Mistakes

The classics: buying an oven that never actually reaches the temperature the restaurant concept requires; ignoring site voltage so a three-phase oven arrives at a single-phase shop; forgetting spare stones and burner parts; importing a gas oven without the technical file needed for Civil Defense requirements; and pairing an excellent oven with a poor mixer so the whole line underperforms.

Golden rule: buy the oven for the pizza concept, not the other way round. Decide first whether you are Neapolitan, New York, or a delivery chain; each concept needs a completely different oven, and no oven does everything well.

The Terrace International field team in Guangzhou and Shenzhen fires the ovens in the showrooms personally, measures real temperatures, negotiates specification and spare parts, and manages inspection, freight, and clearance to your project site.
